Anybody wiling to discuss SEO. Currently I am running V3 on a site and have a A rating in GTMetrix. In working on the Dev for upgrade to 4 it shows an F out of the box. That is the basic theme. Another site on V4 already with a purchased theme also runs an F score. It shoud be noted that GTMetrix focuses on speed testing. True SEO is actually more about quality content, but speed is still a big factor. So anybody have any basic ideas on how to improve speed for SEO purposes? Is it going to be necessary to customize the site code beyond the themes and thus killing support options? It kinda surprises me phpFox seems to have gone backwards in terms of their SEO code value. Upgrades should be improvements and good SEO is really important for running a successful social network. Who knows if we can come up with some really good ideas that does not break the fundamental workings of the code then maybe they will adopt them in future upgrades and not ding those of us who may find it necessary to make code base changes. That would be a win for everyone.

Great/Interesting suggestions. The current V3 site under upgrade that has an A rating is neither Redis nor https so your insight is interesting. If it is as simple as that though without need to get into the code then that is wonderful to hear as I was hoping not to have to go down that road.

The 2nd site I run is on a VPS with https and Redis. Originally I said F score it is an E.

Still welcoming others input. Let's see just how high we can get those scores and what is a comprehensive strategy to get there.

Hi Lewis,

GTmetrix not only measures the performance of your page but also gives us suggestions to improve the grade of your site. Please follow these suggestions to optimize the performance.

When the server be configured correctly, and the cache, storage system be set up... the performance of your site will be improved.

Regards,

Hannah
